Rediscovering My Hobby

A lot of people may know that I love photography. Taking pictures, looking at pictures others have taken, it all makes me so happy. A little over a year ago I invested in a nicer camera, and had all the intentions of getting to know it in and out. Well things happened and I had to put all that on hold. During my break I picked up my camera again, and the spark was ignitated again. I was out and about clicking away, I even met up with a friend for a mini sneaker shoot. It’s been so much fun taking pictures and editing. With school back in session and it getting dark earlier it’s going to be tricky heading out to shoot, but I’m going to try and do so every other week.

Here’s some of my pictures from the summer. I posted some of these on IG @Xo_MermaidKisses and I made a separate IG account just for my pictures for me to see and keep track. Sort of as a learning tool to see progress. You’re more than welcome to give it a look and follow if you want: @DVA.Frames.

Let’s Get Back to The Grind…

Hey cupcakes.

It’s been too long, but I won’t apologize. I had to take some time off and just enjoy life. Don’t get me wrong, I missed blogging, and you guys; but after the semester I had I decided to enjoy the summer with my family. Guess what, it was the right thing to do. I don’t believe that blogging should be forced, it should be something that makes you happy (mostly, there are some headaches attached), and content should come naturally. I wasn’t in a space where I could really give it my all, because my mind just wasn’t there. That’s not to say I didn’t think about my blog, or posts; I did and came up with loads of great ideas. I took tons of pictures to go along with the posts too. Now it’s just a matter of editing and posting. I also have video to edit for my YouTube channel, and am thinking of revamping things over there, so be on the lookout for that.

I know being consistent is key when it comes to the “blogging world”, and I really want to be as consistent as possible; however life for me isn’t so consistent. Work is not a regular 9-5, I have school, kids, and other life events. I can’t promise I’ll be here 2x a week, or that I won’t take a break again. What I can promise is to be honest, and try to provide you with some great content, and maybe a laugh or two. With I that being said I’ll be around more, but some rings will be changing here also. I want to share a bit more of my life with everyone, so I’ll be doing some “life updates” from time to time, along with other things I’ll start incorporating.

Thank you to those who have stuck around. I appreciate you all, and can’t wait to start posting more. I’m also slowl trying to catch up on blogs and videos (I’ve been slacking hard!).  In the meantime I’m off to enjoy some of the warm summer weather before the cold rolls around.

How was your summer? Did you do you take any special trips, or do anything special?
XOXO,

Desiree

Summer 2016

Hello June

Goals and current obsessions for June.

I know we’re like almost halfway into June but I still wanted to share some of the things currently occupying my time, along with some goals. So here we go.

TV:

I’ve been trying to catch up on all the shows I missed during school. Finally caught up on The Walking Dead and OITNB. I started Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D and I’m really enjoying it. I also started and I’m caught up with Sherlock, so good! I’m going to be moving onto Fear of the Walking Dead, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Agent Carter, and hopefully finally diving into Doctor Who. I’m also currently staying up to date with Game of Thrones, Silicon Valley, and Preacher.

Games:

I started playing WOW last month and have been enjoying it. I went on my first raid with my brother and I think I did pretty good. I also started playing Guild Wars 2 after hearing the gals over on Fake Goth Girls podcast rave about it. I’m still pretty new to it and I’m not entirely sure I’m doing it right, but I like it and will be sticking with it. And of course I’m playing Overwatch on PS4 and having loads of fun with it. Currently I enjoy playing as D.Va and Tracer.

Music:

Besides Hamilton, I’ve been listening to just different streams and Beyonce’s Lemonade. It’s so so good, and I can’t get enough of the visuals. If you have yet to watch the video/film, please do. The images, the poetry in between, so many beautiful strong women, check it out when you have time to pay attention to it all. I think I may have heard the album, like 100x and still every time Sandcastles comes on the tears start to flow. When Bey’s voice hits that one note and it kinda cracks, Lord it hits my feelings for so many reasons.  Sorry is just that song to throw on those days you feel like you’ve had about enough, and bounce around with your middle fingers up.

Goals

On to some June Goals:

  • Get to the beach at least 2x. Y’all know summer is my season, and I’m ready to feel the sand in my toes and smell the ocean.
  • Content, content, content. Just trying to get as much queued before August rolls around and school is back in session. So far I’ve been able to put out posts on a weekly basis, so that’s good.
  • Edit and upload more frequently to my Youtube channel. I have so much footage, including form my trip to Puerto Rico, but just haven’t really gotten around to editing.
  • Try to workout 2x a week. I’ll tell you right now, I’m already failing at this. Let’s see if I can make it up somehow.

What are some of the things you’re currently into? Do you have goals for June?

Sparkly Vibes: June

Some of my good things and vibes from the past month.

pink blooms horisontal

Hello cupcakes and welcome back to another Sparkly Vibes post. If you remember from my first post I wanted to highlight some of the good things that have been happening. I think it’s a good way to reflect, and be thankful.

Sparkly Vibes:

  • Free time with my family. It’s been so nice just being able to spend time with them. I could get use to not having classes. I have to enjoy it before they ramp up in August.
  • Online friends. Guys you are so awesome, and inspiring! Honestly I can’t believe how supportive you are.
  • Traveling to NYC. It’s been too long since our last trip. So I was all for going this past weekend.
  • Mac lobster…. so so good. We went to the Mac Bar in Soho and this was so yummy.
  • Overwatch, if you been on my SnapChat you’ve seen that I’ve been playing just about everyday. And what is especially nice is that I won my copy from the guys over at Astral Authority.
  • Twitch: I actually streamed and plan on doing more streaming. It’s been fun not just watching gamers, but people streaming other things like their cosplay process. Check out XoMiaMoore  over there, and Imperialgrrl who Mia recommended and I’m glad she did. I’m streaming over at MermaidKisses feel free to add me.
  • Booking my first cruise. It’s not until 2018, but I’m so excited to be going with my family.
  • My Happy Planner, guys I think I finally found the right planner for me. I love it so much I’m going to be giving one away later this month. Check back for that.
  • Lemonade, it’s Bey what else can I say.
  • Summer, yay!!! I’m all about the beach and warm weather. I have noticed an improvement in my mood ever since the sun started staying out longer.

What are some of the good things that have happened to you? Share your sparkly vibes with me.

XOXO,

How I Won Fast with Fast Play

Hello loves.

Anyone who knows me or follows me knows from time to time I like to partake in the NJ Lottery. It’s so fun to me and I always envision all the fun things I can do if I won some extra cash. So when Blog Meets Brand reached out to me and said they would  give me $15 to try out NJ Lottery’s new play and win game Fast Play game I was all about it.

Fast Play is NJ Lottery’s new instant win game that can be purchased at the lotto terminal, however unlike drawing games you don’t wait for results, you know instantly. There’s no scratching required either like other instant games. You ask for one of the many different games they have such as Bling Bling Bucks ($5 each) or Red Hot Numbers ($1 each) and the ticket is printed for you.

Off I went to my favorite Quick Chek to purchase my tickets. You however can go to any store that sells NJ Lotto tickets such as 7-11 or your neighborhood bodega. If the store has a lottery then you can play there.

My Quick Chek had this Fast Play display which made buying tickets even easier! All I did was look at the different games available and pull the little slip for the ones I wanted. With new games coming out in the new few months these may change or others added to this list.

As you see each game has it’s own little ticket. I then went up to the lotto terminal and handed these slips over to the attendant who then ran them through the machine. How easy is that? No numbers to tell her, no fumbling with names.

Just like that I had my tickets and was ready to see if I won. Depending on the game you choose the tickets are printed differently and instructions on how to win are printed clearly on them. However finding out if you won is easy too. If you’re not sure if your ticket is a winner most lotto terminals have a little green scanner where you can check your tickets at.

Woo! One of my tickets won $7!! I thought it was a winner but wasn’t sure. When I scanned it that’s the message I got. This is so convenient for me since I can be a bit on the shy side sometimes (yes I have a hard time speaking to people at times, can you believe it?), with this I know for sure I won without having to ask anyone.

I then just gave my winning ticket to the attendant and received my cash. All in all it took about 5 minutes for me to purchase and check my tickets. It doesn’t get any easier and faster than that.

Overall I had fun playing the Fast Play games. They’re different from the games I’m used to playing, but different is good. Bling Bling Bucks is my favorite right now, but I’m excited to see what new games are introduced in the future.

Do you like playing any lottery games? If so what’s the most you’ve won. If you play the Fast Play games let me know how your experience went and how much you won. Good luck everyone!

Summer How I Love You

As I sit here looking at the calendar I’m saddened to see that we’re almost done with summer. Living in New Jersey means I experience all the seasons. While I enjoy most of them, except winter (it gets no love from me), summer by far is my favorite. The sun is out longer, you don’t need a coat, and there’s no snow or slush to drive through. Best of all I can be outdoors, which means I can go to the beach!

A few weeks ago I did my 6 on 6 post with a beach theme. I thought it would be nice to share a few more pictured from my trip to Spring Lake. Spring Lake is my favorite beach here in Jersey. There’s no games and shops on the boardwalk, which means no hustle and bustle. It’s perfect to just relax and take in the beauty that is mother nature. If you’re ever in the are and looking for a place to get away and unwind I recommend Spring Lake. You can’t bring coolers on the beach, but everyone just leaves them on the boardwalk and walk to and from to get their snacks and drinks. It isn’t a far walk so it really is no big deal, and you don’t have to worry about anyone taking your stuff. If surfing or boogie boarding is your thing (it’s my family’s fave activity), you can partake in them here.

Perfect skies, perfect water, makes for a perfect day.

The Mermaid in me simply loves the ocean.

The boys are Mermen, they love the beach too!

If you haven’t been to the shore yet this summer Squish says go before it’s too late!

Soon we won’t be able to go and play on the beach. Winter will be here and the cold will set in. In the meantime we plan on going a few more times before summer is over.

What’s your favorite thing to do in summer?

Goodbye Summer

Here we are at the unofficial end of summer, Labor Day. This summer flew by, but then again I feel like every summer does. Since I’m an outdoors person and lover of the sea I cherish every moment I can be outdoors. I love summer, and besides the humidity I can’t complain much. Except for this summer. I feel like I didn’t get to do much. I didn’t go to the beach half as much as I usually do. I didn’t grill enough, I never once got to go hiking. I still have a little time to do some of those things since it won’t be too cold for awhile, but still I feel like I missed out.

You can say we celebrated Labor Day yesterday with an outing to the beach, so I’m okay with not doing anything today. While all across the US people were grilling and swimming, or partaking in some sort of outdoor celebration, my poor skin couldn’t take another minute in the sun. I got wicked sunburn yesterday that wiped me out and has me in pain. So all I did today was sleep, clean, read, finish my homework, grocery shop, and prep my meals. Yeah pretty boring to some, but I’m perfectly happy with my day.

How do you celebrate Labor Day, or the end of summer? Hope everyone had a fantastic day.
