Since I’ve Been Gone

Hello cupcakes. Well as you can see my plan of updating once week was a major fail. I’ve managed to post only 1 new video on my You Tube channel which I forgot to mention here, doh!! No worries I’ll post it down below.

So here’s the deal, I love to blog and make videos. It’s an outlet I quite enjoy, but with school it’s just super hard to keep up with. I feel guilty for not being to put out new content, and for not being able to keep up with ohter’s blogs and YT channels. It’s not from lack of trying, every morning I wake up and try to get to at least 3-4 videos or blogs before getting out of bed. However I’m missing out on so much still. This has lead me to start thinking of ways to keep content rolling out while I’m at school, and how I can keep up with other’s things. I enjoy reading about books and movies people liked (or didn’t), I love seeing everyone at Cons, and the latest collectible added to a collection. So I’ve began brainstorming, and mapping things out. I’m hoping to have a better system once my semester starts again in August. In the meantime thank you to those who have stuck it out with me, and check in on my blog/YT channel even though it’s drier than the Sahara right now. I’m almost done this semester, and after May 10th (okay maybe May 11th, I’ll need a day to recuperate after my final),  I’ll be free to make updates and create videos.

Also I got the above photo from Helene over on Helene In Between, her site is full of all sorts of blogging tips.

Any and all types to stay organized and on top of making content is welcome and appreciated. How do you organize yourself? How do you just keep up with things in general? I feel like I’m behind on life, not just this blog.

Blind Box: Gudetama Cafe

Hello! Today I’m happy to share my  unboxing of the Gudetama Cafe blind boxes. These blind boxes are made by Rement, and are a little different than some of the other blind boxes out there. Unlike the Funko blind boxes, these are more of a set of items. Depending on the line it could be food, household items, school supplies, etc. The Gudetama Cafe ones are all food related, which I’m surer you figured out from the name.

I really enjoyed doing this video and plan on doing more in the future. I like that these are sets of things as oppose to just a figure, because I feel like I can use these to take some cute pictures with my Figmas and Sailor Moon figures. Don’t worry I’m still a fan of the Funko blind boxes, mainly the horror ones, and The Walking Dead line; and I plan on doing unboxing videos of those in the future.

Do you like blind boxes? Which are some of your favorites?

NYCC 2015

Hello. It’s been awhile and I’ve been meaning to post, but life has been busy. This semester is really keeping me busy, good thing there’s only 6 weeks left. I wanted to share some pictures and video from our trip to New York Comic Con. Me and my family have been going for about the past 4 years and we really look forward to it.

This year however even though we enjoyed ourselves there were a couple of negatives. One of the biggest let downs was the lack of panels. I thought I was the only one that thought the panels were lacking, but after discussions with others this was one of the main complaints across the board. The other part was how crowded it was. Don’t get me wrong I expect a crowd but this year it was massive. Also it seemed people were a little less friendly this year. Not everyone of course, but more than usual. I’m also disappointed I didn’t get to meet as many of you fabulous people as I wanted to. Time was limited and the crowd made it hard to get around.

We still had a good time and my little guy left on cloud nine after receiving so many compliments on his cheeseburger back pack. He was Steven Universe and had a blast taking pictures with people. Here are a few pictures from the day and a video. E

Anyone else go to NYCC? What were your highlights? Did you encounter any problems? What con will you be attending next?

What’s in My Schoolbag

Hello cupcakes. I’ve always been fascinated by what’s in my bag videos. It’s fun to see what other people carry, and if any of them have some of the dame things I do. So I decided to do a what’s in my schoolbag video since it is back to school times. I hope everyone enjoys it, and if you would like to see a regular what’s in my bag video let me know and I’ll be happy to do so. As always feedback and suggestions are welcome.

Butterbeer and Fantastic Tales: The Wicked + The Divine

Hello and welcome back. A few weeks back I tweeted about wanting to get into comics and began to start looking into which ones to read. Over and over The Wicked + The Divine by Image Comics kept popping up, and with good reason. If you recall from my last post I mentioned that I begun to read The Wicked + The Divine. The comic began in June of 2014, and is published monthly, so I didn’t feel like I was too far behind.

Let me try to get into why without giving too much away. The comic revolves around the fact that every 90 years twelve mythical figures are reincarnated as young adults with godlike powers, minus the immortality that is. For 2 years they get to live like gods and then they die, so goes the story. We then meet a regular British gal named Laura that gets caught up with the current 12 Pantheon. While first drawn to this lifestyle, she soon starts to realize things aren’t all she expected it to be.

Why I like it, and you will to:

Well besides the main plot of mortal gods that have 2 years to live it up, there’s representation. I’m not just talking about diversity as far as races, but sexuality, and even when it comes to the gods (they don’t just stick to Greek or Roman, there’s also Norse, Celtic, and many more). Honestly this was one of the big things that really drew me in. I love representation and this comic is chock full of it. It’s refreshing to see people from all walks of life in a role of power. I also like that the characters morality vary also from good, to wicked and everything in between.

Of course there’s more to it but I don’t want to give away too much. I myself have only gotten up to book 5, but I can tell you they have a loyal reader already. I can’t wait to buy the other issues and catch up with the story. Oh and did I mention there’s talks of adapting it into a TV series? If this pans up I’m all for it!

So now we get to the fun part. Since I’m hooked on this comic I want to share my love of it with you. I’m giving you the opportunity to win your very own copy of  Vol 1 which is issues 1-5 of The Wicked + The Divine. All you have to do is follow the instructions on how to enter. Contest runs until September 24, 2015 (which just so happens to be my kid’s birthday).

Good Luck!!!

How I Won Fast with Fast Play

Hello loves.

Anyone who knows me or follows me knows from time to time I like to partake in the NJ Lottery. It’s so fun to me and I always envision all the fun things I can do if I won some extra cash. So when Blog Meets Brand reached out to me and said they would  give me $15 to try out NJ Lottery’s new play and win game Fast Play game I was all about it.

Fast Play is NJ Lottery’s new instant win game that can be purchased at the lotto terminal, however unlike drawing games you don’t wait for results, you know instantly. There’s no scratching required either like other instant games. You ask for one of the many different games they have such as Bling Bling Bucks ($5 each) or Red Hot Numbers ($1 each) and the ticket is printed for you.

Off I went to my favorite Quick Chek to purchase my tickets. You however can go to any store that sells NJ Lotto tickets such as 7-11 or your neighborhood bodega. If the store has a lottery then you can play there.

My Quick Chek had this Fast Play display which made buying tickets even easier! All I did was look at the different games available and pull the little slip for the ones I wanted. With new games coming out in the new few months these may change or others added to this list.

As you see each game has it’s own little ticket. I then went up to the lotto terminal and handed these slips over to the attendant who then ran them through the machine. How easy is that? No numbers to tell her, no fumbling with names.

Just like that I had my tickets and was ready to see if I won. Depending on the game you choose the tickets are printed differently and instructions on how to win are printed clearly on them. However finding out if you won is easy too. If you’re not sure if your ticket is a winner most lotto terminals have a little green scanner where you can check your tickets at.

Woo! One of my tickets won $7!! I thought it was a winner but wasn’t sure. When I scanned it that’s the message I got. This is so convenient for me since I can be a bit on the shy side sometimes (yes I have a hard time speaking to people at times, can you believe it?), with this I know for sure I won without having to ask anyone.

I then just gave my winning ticket to the attendant and received my cash. All in all it took about 5 minutes for me to purchase and check my tickets. It doesn’t get any easier and faster than that.

Overall I had fun playing the Fast Play games. They’re different from the games I’m used to playing, but different is good. Bling Bling Bucks is my favorite right now, but I’m excited to see what new games are introduced in the future.

Do you like playing any lottery games? If so what’s the most you’ve won. If you play the Fast Play games let me know how your experience went and how much you won. Good luck everyone!

Summer How I Love You

As I sit here looking at the calendar I’m saddened to see that we’re almost done with summer. Living in New Jersey means I experience all the seasons. While I enjoy most of them, except winter (it gets no love from me), summer by far is my favorite. The sun is out longer, you don’t need a coat, and there’s no snow or slush to drive through. Best of all I can be outdoors, which means I can go to the beach!

A few weeks ago I did my 6 on 6 post with a beach theme. I thought it would be nice to share a few more pictured from my trip to Spring Lake. Spring Lake is my favorite beach here in Jersey. There’s no games and shops on the boardwalk, which means no hustle and bustle. It’s perfect to just relax and take in the beauty that is mother nature. If you’re ever in the are and looking for a place to get away and unwind I recommend Spring Lake. You can’t bring coolers on the beach, but everyone just leaves them on the boardwalk and walk to and from to get their snacks and drinks. It isn’t a far walk so it really is no big deal, and you don’t have to worry about anyone taking your stuff. If surfing or boogie boarding is your thing (it’s my family’s fave activity), you can partake in them here.

Perfect skies, perfect water, makes for a perfect day.

The Mermaid in me simply loves the ocean.

The boys are Mermen, they love the beach too!

If you haven’t been to the shore yet this summer Squish says go before it’s too late!

Soon we won’t be able to go and play on the beach. Winter will be here and the cold will set in. In the meantime we plan on going a few more times before summer is over.

What’s your favorite thing to do in summer?

Butterbeer and Fantastic Tales: The Devil in the White City

Hello cupcakes. Today I bring to you my review for Erik Larson and Tony Goldwyn’s The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair Changed That America. I had been wanting to read this book for the past year or so. I hard so many great reviews and well it has a serial killer so you know I was all about it. The book revolves around the Daniel H. Burnham, the architect for Chicago’s 1893 World Fair, and H. H. Holmes, a serial killer disguised as a doctor who took advantage of the huge amounts of people flocking to the city.

As I mentioned before I’m all about serial killers and had heard about Holmes and his Murder Castle before so I was excited to dive into this. However once I started reading it my enthusiasm died down. While I knew the book wouldn’t be entirely about Holmes I found it dragged on when it came to the parts dealing with the construction of the fair. At times I found I had to force myself to keep reading just to make progress. It wasn’t like this the whole time, but yeah you may loose interest here and there (or not, my attention span is short). While I enjoyed reading about the fair and the challenges faced by the creators I wish there had been more on Holmes. With that being said the writers did get into some of his murders and how he ultimately got caught. I’m amazed with the scams and lies Holmes pulled off, along with the killings of course but can see how it happened. The writers paint a good picture of life surrounding the fair.

Overall I can say I was a bit disappointed but it wasn’t a total let down. If you’re looking to give it a read go for it, but be warned there might be parts that are drawn out. I give it a 3 out of 5 stars.
What kind of books do you like to read? Any recommendations?

6 on 6: Blue ~ Down The Shore Edition

Hello fabulous folks. So a fellow geek gal Emma over at The Scruffy Little Nerd Herder  came up with a fantastic idea called 6 on 6, check out her post and read all about it. Basically the 6th day of each month we’re to put together 6 photos involving the color for that month. For example August was blue, hence the title and my pictures will have some sort of blue in it. Ideally I would be posting on the 6th and would like to have it be geek related. However work has been bananas so I decided to make his month all about one of my greatest loves, the beach. I love going down the shore (in Jersey it’s always going down the shore even if you’re driving North), and all things nautical, after all I am a Mermaid.

Here are a few pictures from our trip this past Sunday to my favorite beach Spring Lake.

 Relaxing, enjoying the beautiful day.

My beach umbrella happen to be blue, perfect for the challenge.

Unfortunately since these were all taken on my phone I couldn’t zoom in but that kite was so pretty, and the color of the sky was perfect.
After all long but fun day the me. Of my life packing up to head home.

Okay so this is 7 pictures instead of 6, but narrowing it down was so hard. Hope everyone enjoyed this post. It was fun and I look forward to doing again next month. If you want to join in on the fun feel free to do so and let me know so I can read your post.

Hola December

Hi gals and guys. I’m back, sorta. The past month and a half have been hectic here. Unfortunately my blog has suffered because of it. Things are starting to settle down and school will be finishing up soon. So that means I should be able to get a regular posting schedule going again. In the meantime lets go ahead and welcome the new month.

IMG_0262-0.JPG

Hola December, you’ve made your way around pretty quickly. It seems this year went by flying, but then again as I get older it seems times speeds up. Anywho, here are some of my goals and things I’m looking forward to in December.

End of another semester: I can’t say this semester has been bad per say, but it’s getting tougher and tougher. Coming to another end of a semester means I’m one step closer to my overall goal. So yay!!

Christmas: I love Christmas for so many reasons. The best feeling is the one I get when my kids open up their gifts and their faces light up. This year is more special because it’s Squish’s 1st Christmas. He’s only 9 months so he can’t understand but he’s my gift and I’m excited and thankful for the addition to our family.

Holiday Cards: I love snail mail and I love receiving all types of holiday cards from my friends all over the world. Speaking of I need to get going with mailing mine out.

Dana Linn Bailey: As mentioned in a prior post DLB is such an inspiration to me. I just love her, she’s such a positive lady. Well I get to go meet her AND workout with her at her gym!!! I can’t even contain myself.

Gym Time: I’ve been doing ok when it comes to going to the gym, but with school coming to an end I get to go more often.

The Evil Within: I finally picked this game up and can’t wait to play it. Everyone I know whose played it has given it good reviews.

Planning My Trip to California: I’m currently planning a trip to California in January, still trying to work out dates. I’m going to visit my dad, it’s been too long since I’ve last seen him. It’ll just be me and Squish so I’m sad I’ll be leaving the other kiddos and the Mr behind but they can’t miss school. I’ll be in the SoCal, LA area so any suggestions for things to see, do, and places to eat are welcomed.

There’s so much more going on in December but I just can’t think of everything now. My brain is a bit fried from all the studying.

What are some of the things you’re looking forward to in December?
