Potter Week

Hello cupcakes. Anyone who knows me knows I’m a big Harry Potter fan. I’ve read all the books and seen all the movies several times. I’ve shed tears of joy and sadness. And when we went to the Wizarding World a few years back I was in awe and could barely contain my excitement. Originally I meant for this post to go up yesterday for Harry and J.K.’ birthday (Happy Belated Birthday!!), but as you see that didn’t happen. However here I am ready to share two of my loves combined, Harry potter and Pops!

About 3 weeks ago Funko Pops released a line of Harry potter Pops and you know I had to go snatch them up. I’m still missing two of the currents that are out, Hermonie and Harry holding the sword. There are rumors of a Quidditch Harry being released this month and a Harry with the invisibility cloak in the future. I can’t wait for them all. In the meantime here’s a video I made with all the HP Pops I currently have. Enjoy!!

Potter week has me wanting to reread all the books. I may do so after I’m done with 2 books I’m working on now. If anyone is interested in reading along together let me know.

How did you celebrate Potter Week? What’s your favorite scene from the books/movies?

Thanks for stopping by. Please comment with any suggestions for upcoming videos you would like.

Latina Media Beauty, Hair, and Wellness Expo

Hello Cupcakes.

Today I headed to North Jersey with my friend Katy for the Latina Media: Beauty, Hair and Health Expo. This was the first year for the expo and overall ok. The location was great, right off the main highway, and plenty of parking. Milani cosmetics was there and I enjoyed their exhibit. So many beautiful matte lip colors (which I’m all about right now), but I’ll get into matte lipsticks in a different blog. One thing is for sure the panel I attended was amazing.

The panel was about real Latina beauty and included Massiel “Mankofit” Arias, and Dascha Polanco (Dayanara from OITNB), among others. Even if you’re not a Latina this panel was just full of positivity and self love. I encourage everyone to watch at least of it.  I made a video which is kinda long, but worth watching. Of course I couldn’t record the whole panel or my video would be over a hour long.

All the ladies looked amazing and were just so real and positive. I left there feeling so inspired. I know I’ll be attending next year’s expo and expect it will be bigger and better.
As of right now I don’t have any conventions set except for NYCC in October. If you know of anything coming up in the NJ/NY area let me know. I’m into loads if different things and attend all types of different conventions/expos.
What did you do this weekend? What’s your favorite convention to attend?

Till next time loves. As always comments are welcomed.

Oh hi

Hello dolls. I know I know I’ve gone and disappeared again. While I’ve tried to stay on top of blogging and reading blogs I have failed miserably. School takes up so much time. But I didn’t want to make a quick update of some of the current things going on in my life.

Watching: Daredevil, I’m sure most of the world is also watching this. It’s SO good. And while I would usually binge watch I’ve actually paced myself with this series. Also it’s just been renewed for another season so yay!!

I’ve also been watching Bloodline, which is a Netflix original series. I’ve only watched 3 episodes and I’m still not sure how I feel about it. I like it but there’s something that is just not letting me love it. We’ll see how that goes.

Reading: The Haunted, it’s a book based on one of Ed & Lorraine Warren’s cases. Ed and Lorraine are the demonologist who have investigated several hauntings including the Annabelle case which has been made into a movie.

I’m also reading The Devil in the White City, which is about a serial killer in Chicago. It revolves around a huge World’s Fair that is being built there.

Mood: Tired, so very tired. And a bit bummed due to some news I received to day, but I’m choosing to not focus on that.

Health: Well I’m living! I signed up today for a “Biggest Loser” challenge at work. Everyone who signs up pays $20 and at the end of 3 months the person who looses the most weight gets the pot. I figured even if I don’t win its a way to help motivate me. Now I need to find time to get back in the gym.

Listening: I listen to a lot of Slate podcasts, but also The Indoor Kids, The Nerdist, The Read, Stuff You Should Know, Bizzare States, and This American Life to name a few. Oh and Fake Goth Girls by Liz and Mia. They’ve made two episodes so far and they’re great.

Obsessed With: My hair, well wanting to dye it again. I just don’t know what. I’ve done red for so many years, and while I switched to this blondish brown two months back and I like it I would like something new. Skincare, I’m on the search for a new routine/products. What I’ve been doing no long works.

Thinking of: So many things!!! Awaiting the arrival of my niece in about a month. So excited for that. Wanting to get into vlogging and podcasting myself. Tips are welcomed.

Working on: Besides school stuff I have been working on launching a Geek Girls Brunch chapter here in Jersey. I found a lovely co-officer and we’ve been trying to recruit gals for our first event. Ideally we would like to be up and running by the end of summer. So if you’re a geek gal in NJ or know of one send her our way.

I’m also looking to have someone make me a logo. I may attempt to make one on my own bit doubt I’ll be able to sit and do so until after the semester is done.
So those are some of the things surrender occupying my time. Kids, work and school take up most of it, but I try to keep up and do other things when possible.

What are some of your currents? As always recommendations are always welcomed.

Review: L’Occitane Shea Butter Lotion

Hello cupcakes. As most of you know winter is upon us and man is Jack Frost doing the most right now. The temps are frigid and the snow is falling. Which means are skin is suffering. If there’s one thing I can’t stand is dry, ashy hands. I think we can all agree that that’s just a no no. Today I’m doing a review on a lotion I’ve been using for the past two months.

Back in November I came across a L’Occitane store and had to go in. I had seen their products before and had been meaning to try them so I figured why not now. I ended up picking up their dry skin Shea butter lotion, in travel size. It’s a 1 ounce tube, which has 20% Shea butter in it. You can find it online on the L’Occitane site or on Sephora for about $12.

So as I said I’ve been using this lotion for about two months and I love it. It’s so creamy but not extra greasy. So once you rub it it in it soaks into your skin but doesn’t leave your hands feeling greasy, which I hate.

It’s odorless which is a plus for those of us with sensitive noses. I can honestly say it’s one of the better lotions I’ve tried. My only gripe is the price. For $12 I wish I had a bit more than a ounce. However two months later and I have about half the tube still left because you don’t need to use much.

Overall I give it a 9 out of 10. I’m so pleased that I plan on trying out more of their products so be on the lookout for those reviews.

What is your favorite lotions? Any products that are your go to for winter? Let me know so I can check them out.

Till next time loves.
