PlayStation E3 Stream

Some of my picks from Playstation’s 2016 E3 conference.

On Monday night I like thousands of others found myself in front of a screen to watch Playstation’s E3 stream. I won’t be writing about all the titles from the event, or else this post will get too long. I will however share some of the ones that jumped out at me.

They kicked things off with an orchestra playing while a gameplay demo of  God of War was shown. We see Kratos and his son (I wish it would have been his daughter but ok), and a huge screen filling boss. While I never really got into the God of War franchise I could see myself playing this one.

From there it was nonstop with Sony doing little talking, and instead just showing titles. I won’t complain about that at all. We saw Days Gone by Bend Studio, an open world zombie apocalypse world kind of game. It gave me a vibe of Sons of Anarchy, zombie edition. I’m still deciding on whether or not I’ll be paying this.

Sony also gave us a release date for The Last Guardian due out October 25, 2016. This was a pleasant surprise since I honestly wasn’t expecting a date in 2016. I’ll be getting the tissues ready for this one, based of the trailer I’m sure I’m going to cry at some point.

Horizon: Zero Dawn has my full attention. Bad ass archer gal killing robo-dinosaurs? I’m here for it. The footage looked great, and you get dialogue wheel to choose options from. while watching footage it looks like time is slowed down when you’re trying to shoot your bow (not sure if this is correct, or if it will always be done), which is great for me since I’m not the best at aiming. Look for this to be released February 28, 2017.

The announcement of PlayStation VR being release October 13, 2016 caught a lot of people of guard. Originally there were rumors that it wouldn’t be ready until some time in 2017. Sony has said there will be about 50 games come release date with many more to come including Batman: Arkham, Star Wars Battlefront, and Metal Gear Solid among others.

However the one I’m most excited for is Resident Evil 7 biohazard. Guys before I even knew what I was watching I thought to myself okay this is giving me Resident Evil vibes, and sure enough that’s what it was. It’s going to be completely VR from start to finish. I’m not sure if my heart will be able to take horror and VR together, but I know I have to try this out.

Sony then pulled out all the stops when Hideo Kojima was bought on stage to announce his game Death Stranding. Okay so the trailer is elusive, and we’re not exactly sure what it will consist of, but the fact the Kojima is working on a collaboration has given me high hopes, and was the highlight of the conference. I can’t really explain this game other than saying butt naked, pregnant Norman Reedus, holding a baby. Yeah I know it sounds so bizarre, which is why you have to watch the trailer and you’ll see what I mean.

All in all I’m loving what I saw last night. I haven’t watched any of the other conferences so I can’t compare how Xbox fares to PlayStation, however the overall feeling I got from others who watched both seems to be that Sony knocked it out the ballpark. While we’re still anticipating release dates for many other titles *cough Kingdom Hearts 3 cough*, it was nice to see dates on many of the games announces last night; including the Crash Bandicoot series being remastered for PS4 due to be out sometime in 2017!

Have you watched any of the E3 streams? What games are you looking forward to?

Xoxo
